W1 - Tears of the Failure

Caije lay in bed staring at the ceiling. Her body ached despite the medicine and bandages. She was alive. More importantly, Ryan and Terra were alive. She'd asked the Senpai who'd been tending to her when she woke. Apparently they had each been found by a small band of soldiers who'd noticed the disturbance of the ambush.
They were alive.
In the days that had passed since she had first come to she didn't dare make a sound or move. Not just because it hurt to do so, but because the makeshift medical ward was nothing more then a large room with dividing partitions. She didn't want to disturb anyone...or more so, she didn't want to accidentally get Ryan or Terra's attention. Though she worried about them still she couldn't bare the thought of seeing them at the moment. Or ever. After what she put them through, she didn't deserve to see them. The idea of being hurt and in here because of her...
Cai closed her eyes, a wave of guilt rising in her throat.
She tried to think of something else, something to calm her, but her mind would not let her rest. Try as she might to fog her attention with memories or recited information, even schoolwork equations and lectures, nothing could keep the war at bay.
A whisper in the back of her mind that another student had been found in the forest. Missing arm.
Calypso?
Cai hadn't heard anything on her sister since she'd left for battle.
Had her sister already fallen?
No. Caly couldn't have. she was too strong.
Strong is a relative term in war. Ryan and Terra had been strong.
They were still strong.
They were injured.
They were recovering.
They shouldn't have been out there.
Caije sucked in a hasty breath and rolled onto her side. She had to bite her lip to keep from making any noise as she did so. A blaze of pain pulsing through her as he body scolded her for her movement. She didn't care though. She deserved it. She deserved to burn.
